  1. I just discovered a great blog with very creative free-motion quilting tutorials by Lori Kennedy. It is theinboxjaunt.comthere is a link on the right hand side for the tutorials. They are wonderfully illustrated with many photos. Check it out and do some practicing!
  2. Two great tutorials on their site are Fold and Sew Quilts, which is just fascinating and the other is a tutorial on spray basting your quilt on a newspaper covered design wall!! It looks so easy!   The weight of your quilt keeps it smooth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UoUzK19Vww
  3. Here is a great article about pressing seams too!  http://blog.shopmartingale.com/quilting-sewing/how-to-press-quilt-seams/
  4. Backing – Use King size sheets for quilt backings. The major reason is cost savings, get them when they are on sale and a big tip is not to use a very high thread count. Remove the hems and tear to get the straight of grain.  Those quilters that used them reported that most long-arm quilters had no objection.
