President's Message

Welcome Spring!

What a wonderful time of the year!  Winter is over and the birds are singing.

Life is coming back to the garden and it’s getting our juices flowing about starting new projects, both in the garden and in the quilt room.  Mother Nature has a way of displaying combinations of color and texture that we never would have thought of on our own.

Speaking of color, texture and quilts, our “Birds of a Feather” quilt challenge in March for the Home of the Sparrow was spectacular.  The talent in our Guild is amazing.  Picking a winner wasn’t easy because you wanted to vote for every quilt.  If you looked at our Facebook page, you would have seen how excited Home of the Sparrow was to receive them. I think they were overwhelmed by the beauty and your generosity and talent.

Thank you to Holly and Lee for organizing this challenge and to everyone who volunteered the day of the challenge by accepting quilts, hanging quilts and tallying the results. Most importantly, great thanks to the 42 people who entered this quilt challenge knowing that you would never see your quilt again. It may be some consolation to know that your quilt will be loved and admired by another.

Happy quilting,

Roni

Education Notes

April Education Notes

Do you get Daily Deals emails from Missouri Star Quilt Company?  It’s not always something I’m interested in but they recently had a folding 24” x 6” ruler that I had to have and it was 50% off the regular price of $27.95!  Carrying a long ruler to class or workshops can be cumbersome so I was tickled to add this to my travel tools.  Here is a link if you’d like to check it out:  https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/detail/23069/tqm-products/-/fold-away-ruler

Since I’m on the subject of tools for classes and workshops, Sandy Jackson came rolling into a workshop a few months ago with one of those cloth wagons that I’ve seen in Costco and Sam’s Club for gardening and such.  It was neatly filled with her sewing machine and all the miscellaneous items that she needed for the workshop.  What a brilliant idea!!  No struggling with your machine trolley plus bags of tools and rulers – everything in one handy wheeled wagon!  Thanks so much Sandy!

If any of you have discovered a new tool, trick or article that you’d like to share, please let me know by using the Contact Us page on the website.
