Annual Guild Charity Sew In

  • January is always reserved for our annual sew in. Doors open at 9:30 am. If you're early you can help set up and shop ways and means.

    Bring sewing machine and supplies. Including mat, ruler, and rotary cutter, and an extension cord. NO irons. They will be provided by the guild. Bring a project to work on for comfort quilts, or Veterans quilts. There will be some kits provided for these. Dana will bring pillowcase kits. Bring your lunch & a drink. We will be sewing from 10 am to 3 pm. There will be demos & door prizes and lots of fun!

MEMBER DEMOS

  • Join Kelly Meanix, Nancy Powell, Karin Cotter and Chris Costanzo for a round robin of demos which will expand your quilting techniques.

  • February 14 10:00 AM

    We’re in for a treat. Accomplished Calico Cutters Quilters will demonstrate their skills in three 15-minute sessions in a round robin format.

    Glue Basting - Kelly Meanix

    Learn the magic of using glue to help you quilt. Different types of glue will be shown and where/how to use them. If you are afraid of curves, glue will be your friend and make you successful. I will have samples for you to see if it is for you.

    String Piecing - Nancy Powell

    Gather your scraps to create a masterpiece!

    Machine Embroidery - Karin Cotter

    Have you ever thought about dipping your toe into machine embroidery but don’t know where to begin? I’ll show you the basics, how to get started and suggest some websites for more information. It’s addictive.

    Potato Chip Blocks – Chris Costanzo

    Learn the different variations of the potato chip block (used beautifully by Rose Morgan) using 2” x 3.5” rectangles

Cheryl See

  • Cheryl See’s presentation will be a Trunk Show of her quilts.

    Cheryl has been quilting since 1993 and started her business in 2013. She uses a variety of quilting techniques and styles, but is best known for her handwork, especially English Paper Piecing. She is known as the “Hexpert” because of her love of hexagon quilts. She won Best Hand Quilting for a large quilt, Star Struck, at the AQS quilt show in Paducah. It is now in the permanent collection of the National Quilt Museum.

Valerie Goodwin
Presented virtually exclusively at PARC

  • Valerie Godwin is a mixed media fiber artist and architect whose fine art works are included in museums and private collections. Most of her work is inspired by a love of aerial views of landscapes and cities. Many of her quilts are based on maps.

Elizabeth Summar

  • Elizabeth Summar doesn’t quilt with fabric, she makes quilts using paint and wood, also known as Barn Quilts. Elizabeth will share the history of barn quilts and the trails that have been created to showcase them.

    She will share her process of how she prepares and paints them.

Cyndi Hershey

  • Cyndi is a former Quilt Shop owner and has worked in the fabric industry in product development and marketing for more than 20 years. Cyndi has been involved with the Kutztown Folk Festival Quilt Barn for over 10 years and is a quilt book author and editor. She is a graduate of Philadelphia College of Textiles.

Sujata Shah

  • Sujata Shah, a graphic designer and textile artist, is originally from Mumbai, India. The mother of three grown children lives with her husband in San Francisco Bay area.

    She has won awards for her quilts in local and national quilt shows and designed quilt patterns under the name of Rangoli Designs. Her teaching experiences include workshops inspired by the quilts of Gee's Bend, needle-turn applique based on her original designs and color and design workshops in Seattle area and Philadelphia. Her quilts have been shown at AQS in Lancaster and Padukah and the Pacific Northwest Quilt-Fest.

Annual Holiday Luncheon

  • Sign-ups will take place at the November meetings. If you did not get a chance to sign up please contact Kathy Gubanich. There will also be sign-up sheets for deviled eggs and desserts. More details to follow. Space is limited to 120 members.
