Calico Cutters Mystery Quilt Day!
Do you enjoy solving mysteries? Do you love quilting and selecting fabric? Yes, yes and yes? Then come join us on our Mystery Quilt Day! On Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Goodwill Fire Company in West Chester we will hold a Mystery Quilt sewing day! Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. and we will begin handing out the clues to the mystery at 9:15 a.m. The registration fee is $16 and includes the pattern.
Bring your sewing machine, a quarter inch foot, a small cutting mat, ruler and rotary cutter to sit beside your machine. Oh, and fabric, we just have to have fabric! For this beautiful pattern you will select 1 1/4 yards of a dark fabric, 1 1/4 yards of a light fabric, and 1 1/4 yards of an accent fabric. We will be making a 40″ x 60″ quilt. You may then add borders and a sashing to complete your project and increase the size. Or, you may bind it at the smaller size. Either way, it will look lovely and magical!
Please use contrast when choosing your fabrics! Choose two fabrics with contrasting values (light and dark) and choose an accent fabric that has a strong contrast in color with both of the first two fabrics. Don’t be shy! This is your opportunity to use some intensity in the accent color. The prints in the light and dark fabric can be any scale that you like. For the accent fabric, choose a small scale, tone on tone, or solid. Avoid directional fabrics unless you are prepared to ignore the crazy directions which may occur!
There are still a few spots and there is still time to get your supplies ready! Christine Fallon will take sign-ups at the Education table at the February meeting or email Christine Fallon or Catherine Morano. Don’t wait! We will only be able to take 20 participants!
